Best VR Experience! Better Than Every...

I have owned my Quest for a year, and have played every major game with 4 stars, or higher rating. Nevertheless I have never rated, nor commented on a game before this. Where do I start with this game... Well first you should know that this is not a game; it is more of an experience. If you are a fan of anime, or the light novels which anime are based upon you will love this game. Most Quest games can be beat within hours, yet this took me a week to finish. You are trying get the best ending. If you have ever watch the animes Re:ZERO or Steins Gate you will know the struggles of trying to achieve a future where everyone is happy; except now you’re living it instead of simply watching it. That may sound repetitive, but in actuality once you unlock an alternate future a whole new story and background reveals itself. In other words with most Oculus games once you play it and beat it-it’s finish. There will be nothing new, but with THIS game if you pick the right combination of choices you can experience an entirely different adventure each time. You’re basically getting several games, or to be more accurate, several series of a novel for the price of one! There were times when I thought of giving up on this game after re-experiencing the same scenario dozens of times, but something just didn’t feel right about the bad endings so I kept at it, trying different choice combinations. HINT: being nice isn’t always the right choice. Again talking to my anime fans, there is an opening sequence like on animes that once you unlock it you will not be able to help but to go back to it over and over again. However, this time instead of just watching it you’re actually inside and experiencing an opening anime song! It’s one of the coolest things I’ve experienced on Oculus. Something I have realize is that once you become emotionally invested in the characters the songs hit you differently, because again unlike reading a novel, or watching an anime you’re actually there experiencing it all with the characters in the first person. Being able to become emotionally attached to characters is something other games don’t allow. There are some specific things I would love to address from other negative reviews I have read about this game, but unfortunately I cannot because they may turn into spoilers. Again this is about the experience and discovery, just know that everything in this game is designed to be that way for a reason and if you stick with it long enough you will understand that reason. The emotional attachment of having literally lived dozens of lives with the same characters and seeing their joys, their hurt, and struggling along side them like YOU would with a real person is why I say this is literally the BEST game that Quest has to date. Hint: When analyzing the waves of the enemy DON’T press any of the side buttons put your hand on the middle one Only...

The trailers don’t do justice

I played through twin endings, reset so my wife can play. She hates VR all together. Can I tell you that I lost my oculus for a week on this one. She was so immersed. She came crying out of the oculus at times. I played through all stories I could find and there are no more hints after finding the brightest star in the sky. Devs please... continue on this. Do not leave this as a one off. Prequel, postquel, any quel. Continue this. Or else you never know what happens when two voices sing with bad intent. You wouldn’t want that would you? Love this game and music, visuals, story. Only thing I even could wish for more is control in battle more of positioning and I kinda wish the rail gun were swords. Lol anyone else?

Over-sold, Under-delivered

The novelty of being in the pilot seat of a mech can only carry you so far. Overall I will admit this game had phenomenal potential, and wasted nearly all of it. In the entire game I experienced only 2 fight scenes and using the term “fight” is a HUGE stretch. They barely lasted 30 seconds and were 100% predicted and practically choreographed. There’s no element of surprise, control, or choice in it at all. To call them fight scenes would diminish what it means to fight in any game. Let alone what I’ve come to hope for in a mech game. I will say however beautiful story writing and artwork. If you came for a beautiful visual novel then I give it 4 stars. But if you want anything remotely action based this is NOT the game for you. I detest returning games lol Ben those I find lacking I don’t want to return but this is one I would be willing to return. It’s only redeeming quality is the beauty of the visual design.

The dream has come true for anime fans

When you watched a great anime, you may have thought that "it would be wonderful if I can watch it as virtual reality. Altdeus: Beyond Chronos gives this sort of experience you dreamed of, and even more. You really are "in anime" and become a protagonist to move the story forward. I particularly loved the sophisticated 3D user interface which would be only possible in VR. I have only covered the early part of the story so far, but I am more than confident that I will enjoy this experience until the end.

Best game I have ever played to date.

I have played a good amount of story games in my life, including VR ones, but this one was the best I have ever played. The other games never really made me feel absolutely immersed or emotional, but this one did it better than you could ever imagine. I felt like I was actually the main character, not just watching the game unfold beyond my eyes. When I first opened the game and got into my first Mech battle, what was happening on screen and the song playing really made me feel like it was all real. It made me feel that this is the game I have always wanted, instantly. I have no bad things to say about this game. If I am being honest, it changed my views on life in some ways. A remember twice in the game, I ended up crying. A lot. Games never usually do this, because the emotional attachment to the people and world around you aren't as displayed as they are in VR. In this, I felt like these were my dear friends. Honestly, this was worth 40$. I really hope the Devs continue to make games in this fashion, be it a sequel, prequel, or a completely new story with new characters. I trust that they will only make masterpieces. I actually haven't played their first game, "Tokyo Chronos", and am planning on buying it as soon as I possibly can. I highly, highly recommend this. If you are into anime and dislike the world around you, get this game. Immerse yourself into *being* Chloe, if you will. And remember not to stop playing when the credits roll, there is a lot to see and experience.
