These are five free starts for anyone who wants physics-driven combat and sandbox chaos on Meta Quest, without pretending every one is a finished premium game.
1. Battle Talent Demo
Battle Talent Demo is the clearest first stop if you want physics-based fantasy combat. It gives you a taste of the roguelite sword fighting, dungeon encounters and weapon handling that make the full game such an obvious reference point for this kind of VR. It is a demo, so expect a shorter slice rather than a complete campaign, but it earns its place because the moment-to-moment combat already feels properly physical.
2. Frenzy Extinction LITE
Frenzy Extinction LITE is the free early-access entry point for the Frenzy style of physics combat. It supports solo, multiplayer and co-op sessions, and it is built around weapons, physical encounters and a rougher experimental energy than a scripted campaign. The current listing says a Discord code is needed to play, which is a bit annoying, but it is still one of the closest free fits for this article.
3. DOWNSHOT
DOWNSHOT goes wider than a normal arena shooter. It is a multiplayer physics playground with a large item pool, mod support and sandbox maps, so the fun comes from trying an idea rather than following one perfect loadout. Build something dumb, pick a ridiculous tool, then see whether the map and the other players cooperate.
4. Buddy Beatdown
Buddy Beatdown is for the destruction-sandbox end of the spectrum. It throws multiplayer, weapons, explosives and physics toys together and lets the session get unhinged quickly. It is early access, so do not go in expecting the polish of a big paid game, but the physical chaos is exactly the point.
5. Boneless
Boneless is the raw experimental pick. It is a single-player physics sandbox with maps and weapons, made for trying things out rather than being guided through a polished story. That makes it less of a safe recommendation for everyone, but a good fit if you specifically want to poke at VR systems and see what breaks.
When you want the more polished version
These are great free starts, but the deeper end of Quest physics is still mostly paid. BONELAB is the obvious next step for a bigger, more polished physics sandbox, especially if you want to explore mods and different ways to play. Newton’s Playground: Physics Sandbox is another good option if you want a focused sandbox with fighting and shooter elements.
