Baobab Studios, Inc.

The latest animated short movie from the award-winning Baobab Studios. In Bonfire, you play the lead role in an interactive narrative. As Space Scout 817, you’re on a mission to discover a new home for the human race. Too bad your piloting skills lack… precision. You crash-land at night on a mysterious unknown planet three-hundred light-years from Earth. Your only source of light is your makeshift bonfire. Beyond its glow everything falls to darkness. And what are those strange noises coming from the alien jungle?

To survive you only have your instincts and robot sidekick, Debbie, voiced by Ali Wong. Debbie’s companionship comes with a signature wariness. When a chance meeting with a local inhabitant further steers your mission off course, you learn that unexpected encounters just might result in lasting friendships. You’ll have the opportunity to embrace, explore and influence the world around you. In the end, the choice is yours: Will you follow your captain or your conscience?

Can't help but feel ripped off

I'm sorry but this is a 1.99/2.99 game at best. The credits roll longer! I can't help but feel like I'm being ripped off for being an early adopter of the oculus quest. These "games" are tech demos at best! Very disappointing. I only gave it 3 stars because graphically it's beautiful and the game mechanics work very well.

Great but pricey

So this is an incredible short interactive story, everything is very well done from lighting, animations, sound effects, you name it, it's great! Buuut it did feel too short for the price, I mean as a developer myself I can see why the price would be that much but i'd personally only ask $5 due to the length. It's fun, cute and well done but lacking, with the ability to buy a game for the same price that would offer 40+ hours of gameplay, I can only hope that VR games in the future will offer the same. Keep making cool stuff!

Polished interactive experience

Impulse buy on sale, super glad I did, because I'm never uninstalling this. Only played it twice, but it warms my heart seeing it in the apps list because it was such a rich experience, and it's one of the ones I use to introduce VR to others (along with Fruit Ninja). No instructions needed. It's fun watching them react to the surprises and jokes, and knowing the story means you can share the experience with them. Also fun seeing how easily they're convinced to betray humanity and leave us all to die just to save a cute pet...

Amazing app for first time VR player

I absolutely love this app. It’s comfortable and a good app to show to people who first try VR and show them the wonder of VR story telling. Very cute story. Love Ali Wong. Other people have review it to be lower than 5 stars due to the short length and the price. In my opinion, baobab is a small independent studio. They have the amount of budget to hire artists and also produce high quality interactive short story. I’ve played other games that cost way more with laggy frame rate and bad texture. I’m comfortable paying 5-6$ for high quality, no frame rate issues and good story telling. As a 3D artist, I know what it takes to get a product with this high quality. It should not be free and I urge other viewers to understand good art require money. Also, the quest is notoriously hard to work with in terms of VR app. I think they did a good job regardless. I can only look forward to more stories made by Baobab.
