CHARM is a project co-funded by the COSME Initiative of the European Union, that aims to boost the competitiveness of European tourism and promote the image of Europe as a global tourist destination of excellence.

CHARM VR App offers to the visitors the possibility to explore in an immersive way a cultural-architectural good from the Italian Pilot Village Cunziria: Palazzo Trao Ventimiglia in Vizzini, Italy.

The palace is the headquarter of the Museum of Verga’s imaginary. The VR App has been conceived as a virtual path through the two exhibits of the museum, the first one about the traditional work tools of local tanners and farmers and the second one about Verga’s passion for photography.

This is what happens...

...when you make a VR experience despite never having tried any other VR experience. 1. Trigger should be click, not A 2. Don't have a loading screen that is stuck to my head 3. Everything. Everything else.

Cool

It's a nice photogrammetry experience. While very low poly and with low res textures, it does manage to capture some of the Italian house atmosphere and makes you feel like you are exploring the museum. What didn't work though, is a start menu that is stuck to user's head. That's a huge "no" in the VR comfort book. Also, why not use trigger for selecting options instead of the A button? I thought the game's menu was broken at first (being stuck to the head movement and trigger not working).

Just horrible

I couldn't use this for more than 3 minutes. First of all, the UI is fixed to your face, so you can't even look at the whole thing because of the FOV, and made me sick! Can't use trigger button, the locomotion system is horrible, can't rotate yourself, everything is pixelated, the model is very low quality, etc etc. Seems like the developers never had any experience with VR development, or ever used VR before! Please do better.
