Grappling hook Halo for VR

Waited so long for the full release! This is easily one of my favorite VR games ever! Pros: Grappling hook, double jump, climbing, wall jumping: I'm sold for the movement mechanics in this game. It's similar to Titanfall but they made it even better for VR. The weapons are super fun. They clearly got inspiration from Unreal Tournament and Quake but they are extremely satisfying to fire so I can't ask for more. There's dual wield and multiple fire modes as well woohooo! The graphics is amazing. I really dig the stylized art and it really pushes the limits of the Quests. Hundreds of VR settings, seated mode and comfort options checked, VR controls are smooth and the UI is clear and simple even so that other games should learn from it. Cons: CTF mode is not yet available (devs working on it) and I hope the promised weapons skins arrive soon because I'm starving for them! Music could be better but that's just a personal preference. Conclusion: Play this now.

Better than HyperDash and Solaris!

Outstanding game that should come directly to official Quest store.

Quake 3 in VR

I have to say this review title is a bit misleading as it's not really Quake 3 nor is it Unreal Tournament but it's the closest we'll get for quite some time. This game is fast, has great verticality, and is a blast to play. You pretty much set a basic loadout which is compromised of a melee weapon, basic pistol, and bow. You can customize your avatar (no BS microtransactions or requiring playing the game like a second job, it's all available) and from there you're ready to go.. Like older FPS games, weapons, health, and shields are scattered across the map giving everyone a fair chance to get a weapon. For the most part all weapons are balanced and it comes down to personal play styles. You have a grapple hook on your off hand which really makes this stand out. To be affective against higher level AI or human players you will want to take advantage of verticality and constantly be on the move. You can also dual wield but of course until you drop the off hand weapon you lose the ability to use the grappling hook. The game also allows you to use both hands with some weapons enabling alternative fire and having significantly less recoil and possibly adding another perk to the gun (such as a shield). There are a decent amount of maps but not nearly as many as many classic FPS from the late 90s and early 2000s. We're talking about roughly ten or so maps here. For what is here though, they're very well designed with verticality in mind. Visually they look good on the Quest and I love the seasonal touches in each map extending past the main menu lobby. This game has a lot of the traditional modes you would see in a FPS. It does seem to be missing capture the flag but that is coming soon. One huge advantage this game has it has excellent bot support. You can easily play against AI of your selected difficulty and for the most part they navigate the maps much like a human and will fight you amongst themselves. There isn't a great player base as far as I can tell but I have had at least one or two other players across Steam and Oculus in any match I've joined. Bots can fill the empty slots until people join. One reviewer complained about waiting for matchmaking. You can start matchmaking and then play single player against bots until a match is found. That's usually what I do so I do not have to wait around. The real shame here is that this isn't in the main store. It's absolutely excellent and better than a lot of the content in the official Oculus store. I believe it would be a huge hit there and you would have a larger player base and more content as the developers would have more incentive to add content (this has been on Steam for over a year and they have added content but PCVR isn't nearly as popular as Quest).

Must Try

I've been waiting a year for this Quest release after first playing this game on PCVR. It's amazing - the sense of flying through a level while blasting players is great. Fans of Unreal Tournament or Swarm will love this. The bhaptics support feels great. Surprisingly no motion sickness either.
