Imagination and immersion

Really enjoyed this creative experience, some great environments and a really really great sense of motion as well. Of course I wish the graphics were more realistic like cursed sanctum or something rather than being polygonal, but this is certainly worth a go as a free experience. Hope to see more and longer pieces from this developer.

High level of artistic integrity

Being that VR is a new medium to mainstream home consumption, I love not only the commercial capabilities of elite titles but also the DIY/workshop aesthetic of experimental demos. Invite is a prime example of a developer wanting to do something different and artistic, discarding typical notions of what a virtual reality experience should be. You see, this is really about the music. This piece is set to, and an homage to, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, and the creative minds behind this title have fun personifying the musical dynamics into stunning visuals. In just minutes, we get futuristic settings, elegant swans and ballerinas, intense Death-Star trappings, tranquil underwater sojourns, and an inter-dimension journey to the infinite. It’s amazingly diverse and nuanced and I find myself coming back to it regularly. Even more so than the fancy premium titles, I feel this is truly what VR is fundamentally about. This is art, and any new medium should aim for that level of brilliance. Fascinating piece of work.

Ethereal experience

To the music from Swan Lake, two ballerinas float, spin, and dive above you, leading you through a fantasy landscape of paper sculpture. This short but sweet experience makes excellent use of lighting, colour and motion to enhance the impression of travel.
