From my phone to VR in just minutes!

It is so satisfying to visit the splats I made on my mobile phone in VR in just minutes. I've been building a library of 3D scans and 3D photos of the places I visited this year. When I connected my Scaniverse account to Into The Scaniverse, I could see my full library of scans in VR, like magic.

Scaniverse is Magical

Scaniverse has become my new obsession. Why just take a 2D photo of something when you can do a reality capture of the scene or object and view it later in full 3D? Traveling around the world viewing places through other's eyes is fantastic. Even though some scans are less than perfect this is kind of their charm as they turn sometimes into impressionistic dream like encounters that I find enjoyable. I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews here as when captured properly your scans can be amazing. There is a slight learning curve though and I suspect too may people don't read the scanning hints and just haphazardly point and shoot. Reading the instructions, always a good idea. Also, Niantic continues to improve the app since it's inception so disappointed users should give it another try.

Gaussian splats are really immersive!

This is a great way to explore the world and see what others have posted from Scaniverse, but you can also look at your own private scans in a headset.

Disgusting looking environments

Man it’s been quite a while since a VR app actually made me feel violently ill but this one got the job done. The environments here look like they’ve been rammed through an AI filter until they were barely recognizable. Niantic should stick to their roots and focus on their mobile games cause they clearly ain’t capable of developing a decent VR app.

Great but I cant upload from Android

Very cool piece of software but I haven't been able to upload my scans to the map or share online from the Android app. The share link option ends up with "creating link failed" error. And if I try to upload to the map it attempts to upload and eventually gives an error message of "no internet" or similar wording. My phone is Galaxy S20 and connected to wifi on a fast connection with no connection issues (connection works for any other internet access on the phone). Have tried over the last few hours. I'm in Australia if that makes any difference. Wondering if there is a timeout issue if uploads to your server are too saturated during a peak time?
