I did not play the OG version so this was my first go at it and reviewed as such. DUUUUDE....I agree it starts off slow but it ramps up and when it does it's quick. Very easy controls and straightforward with that. The visuals are pretty awesome and all the doors might make you lose some sanity as well. One jump scare got me so good I dropped the dang remote and then had to laugh cause my hand was just chillin on the floor. I haven't finished yet but I'm in love.

Great game with only a few scuffs

I love this game to death and find it utterly terrifying. There have been many points in my play throughs where I have gone into a corner in a room and just sat there cuz I didn’t have the courage to continue. There has also been many times where I’ve resorted to saying the dumbest funniest things so I don’t pee my pants in fear. I’d say the most major problem (which FYI still isn’t a big deal in my opinion) is the jump scares can be a little bland at times and the story can be hard to follow if you don’t look at every note. The graphics are also not great on the quest 2. Overall, a really solid horror game with a great atmosphere, terrifying gameplay, and only a few minor issues. A great choice of game for this Halloween.

Scary but outdated

It can feel slightly slow paced at first as this isn't the kinda game you have your friends try for a quick scare. It's very immersive with good jump scares but my biggest complaint is how outdated it felt. The few objects you can touch don't have any physics which kills immersion pretty hard. The graphics are decent and it runs great on the quest 2.

Game is great

The game had many jumpscares u wouldn’t recommend if very scared of things like that because that’s basically the game. Junpscares. If you take off your console for a bit, the screen becomes black and you have to redo the game. Not the entire game but the part that you just did. The jumpscares are very scary and the overall game is very creepy. I would definitely recommend this game!!

Great creepy game, but has issues

The game started rather slow, but then got really twisted and interesting. Loved the ever changing house, constant suspense and creative creepy surprises. Won’t say too much more than that as I don’t want to give any spoilers... : P I would have given it 5 stars, but I found the motion in this game to cause me to get nauseous every time I played. I got some sea bands and Dramamine to help with the motion issues and was able to finish, but wish there could be improvements in this area. There were also parts of the game where it was too dark, clunky controls and glitches. Things that you have to interact with were very difficult to reach at times. There was a part with a safe where the line you are supposed to align the numbers with was not visible to me in the scene, and other times when you’re trying to select numbers on combos where it seemed very difficult to get the controller to do what you wanted. I just got the Quest 2, and was hoping it might look a little better on the new headset with higher resolution , but now instead of being too dark, at times it looks like there’s a milky film over the screen. I really wish they’d make an update to take advantage of the Quest 2 hardware, tweak colors to compensate for the not so great black levels on the Oculus 2, and improve resolution and contrast in the really dark scenes. The milky/foggy appearance is even apparent in less dark scenes like the entry way. As it currently stands, I think this game looks much better on Quest 1 than Quest 2 because there are so many dark scenes and they just look really washed out on the Quest 2. I think I missed some stuff the first play-through and have heard there are potentially different endings, so will probably go through it again at some point, but am really hoping maybe they’ll update with better graphics, interaction and motion in the future. Overall, I think this game is a great concept and very creative - it just has some issues with the VR port that I’m hoping maybe they will fix over time because I see so much potential for it to be even better.
