VR dream for AC/Stardew fans!

As an avid Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley player, I have been anticipating this game for a while now. I’m pleased to say that it’s so much fun! It is relaxing, very easy to get lost in, and there seems to be enough to do to keep the player busy for a while! What is Awesome: -THE EASTER EGGS!! I loveee that the trailer didn’t give any of these away because the Easter eggs are amazing. Indiana County in particular tickled me to death lol. -I also found that it is very easy to lose yourself in this game. Plus, the sounds/sights of nature make it very relaxing. -The details on the insects in particular really impress me with their accuracy! -I genuinely feel that pleasant experiences of the game were enough to override the bugs that it has. Issues: -Without smooth turn, I got a serious headache. The default settings for rotation are awful. Luckily, smooth turn in the game settings fixed that immediately. I do agree with other users though, that the smooth turn is verrrrrrry slow. A little infuriating slow at times. -Some things are a little glitchy. For example, one of the waypoints on one of my maps refuses to recognize that I’m there and it’s keeping me from completing a quest (last step too 😭). Some of the tools can be glitchy as well. -It can be difficult to tell if your tool is glitching or if you’re doing something incorrectly as the user. There are no explanations to read at the shops about the tools or items… this makes it difficult to understand what’s really worth buying to use. I think it would be helpful to describe some of the items in the shops at the farmers market so the player can understand the items potential. Maybe even a little log on the watch with some basic info would be nice. 🤷‍♀️ Regardless, I feel something like that would be great to see in future updates. Conclusion: Overall, it is a very pleasant and enjoyable game and I have no regrets purchasing! I can see the potential for certain improvements and I have high hopes from the developers of this game. You can tell a lot of love went into it and I hope to see some aspects of the game develop further.

A pleasant escape

I am a veteran with ptsd and I like most have my good and bad days, even on a bad day I can come into this game and just relax by enjoying the sites and casual play of hunting for things to find and pictures to take. I spotted a ufo at Indiana farm (typical stereotype) and accurate as I’m from there lol. But all jokes aside it’s great game to just relax to, no matter how your mental might be affected come on in and listen to nature while taking a casual walk. Have a great day everyone.

Unfinished

Money making is painfully slow. You plant tomatoes and sell them at 2 credits each. To make some money you can search for mushrooms which some are 10 credits. To put this into perlective, a new square patch to plant more is 500 credits, and 4 tomato plants in each one. Quests pay virtually nothing. Smooth turning is extremely slow making it necessary to set it to snap, which I hate. The game needs work and the money making needs an overhaul because as it stands you literally can’t make enough to build anything so it’s just a photo taking walking mushroom collecting simulator, nothing more. Fix these issues and 5 stars. Update: Developer listened and fixed some issues. I would still like quests to pay a lot more and the ability to sell all items in a category at once. Fishing would be a massive bonus! On the right track though guys! Thumbs up!

Updated Review

******DO NOT DO UPGRADE!!!!**** I lost ALL progress when I updated. A years worth of building all gone. I couldn’t wait for this game to be available. The concept is fun but it is super glitchy. It takes a very long time to wonder around collecting coins and mushrooms and when you do buy seeds to plant there are major issues actually getting seeds in the ground. 3 days in a row my garden boxes with hard earned plants just disappear making me start all over. And yes I am saving game progress often. It cost between 75$ and 200$ to buy a seed just to sell a tomato etc for 2 to 10$. Motion sickness is a big issue here with the way you move around. Both controllers make the same movements. That being said the Devs put a lot of thought into the maps that you hunt for prizes. They are fun and the game is a refreshing break from violence in most games. I’m hoping upgrades come quick. I had such high hopes but the glitches are just too frustrating. Hope they work them out soon or I’d rather play on my IPad. ***update It has been a month since the game was updated. The Devs are really listening to us and trying hard to fix the issues. We now get more money for selling our produce and finding coins and Mushrooms are easier. The maps are great and huge. Fun surprises all over. Today I spotted a UFO and was scared by a Werewolf. So much fun. Keep up the good work Developers, and thank you for listening!

Morels: Homestead Game Review

Morels: Homestead is a Sandbox, Farming, Photography game I played on the Oculus Quest 2 from Abrams Studios Video Review: https://youtu.be/PRp748GlySk This game could be compared to Animal Crossing if anything, a huge portion of the gameplay comes down to grinding to get money so you can afford stuff to decorate your sandbox environment. The Grinding is comprised of collecting stuff that you can sell and completing quests to get stuff which usually involve taking a photo of something or finding a certain amount of a particular item. The farming is unfortunately very lacking involving just watering and optionally fertilizing after stuff has been planted to grow stuff that unfortunately doesn't sell for high enough that I felt it was worth doing compared to just collecting stuff and doing the quests. The photography and exploring the non sandbox areas was the most enjoyable aspect of the game for me but pressing left or right on the controllers is always set to turn not to strafe and the smooth turning turns very slowly leading me to just snap turning and often using the teleport options to quickly get around. I had several items glitch out and vanish in my playtime though which also made the high expense the items cost even more frustrating. I think this game could be awesome with the issues addressed but I thought this was a game for me and sadly it left me feeling disappointed and frustrated and not wanting to come back. Perhaps a title to revisit in 6 months but I cant recommend it as a must buy title currently. I am sure there will be people who will enjoy this title as is and if they fix the cost of items so its easier to afford stuff I think it would make the game a lot more fun.
