Ember Souls takes you to the Orient and a palace brimming with secrets. What schemes does the Sultan hide behind his walls? Does it fulfill the dreams of a Prince of Persia experience in VR? Let me tell you this: you'll love the variety in gameplay and see firsthand why VR is a true game changer. This game delivers countless goosebump moments that completely draw you in. Rarely has it been this hard for me to take off my VR headset. Technically, I’m treated to stunning dynamic lighting, and yes, I actually clapped during the intro when I saw the ride to the palace. The graphics are beautifully crafted, with so much love for detail. The soundtrack is pure love.

Must play VR game!

Ember Souls is an amazing game that reminds me a lot of Blade & Sorcery; however, this game is so much better in many ways. First of all, it has a fully voiced story spread across 18 levels. The entire game takes 6 to 8 hours to beat and has great replayability with raid and sandbox modes. The combat is fun, smooth, and very well done. For example, you can block enemy sword slashes by holding your sword perpendicular to theirs, dismember enemy limbs, throw daggers, shoot arrows, and use 8 elemental spells, like wind, fire, water, and earth. The boss fights were stunning with each boss having a specific mechanic to kill them, similar to zelda games. The graphics were pretty good for a standalone Quest game and the game was well optimized to have almost no fps issues on my Quest 3. The puzzles were superb, using VR very well, allowing you to push, turn, and grab objects to solve them. The parkour was also great with wall running, VR climbing and jumping, dodging traps, and sliding down ropes. Did I mention that you can pet your bird familar and it purrs! This is one VR hack-and-slash game that you do not want to miss!

Closest thing to Prince Of Persia in VR

Ember souls doesnt hide its influence at all but flaunts it with style. The "Prince of Persia" influnces are clear to see; but Ember Souls is much more than this. Playing as Kasim your journey involves collecting the ember stones before the "big bad man" can gather them all (gaining immense power and probably taking over the world) Your aided by a spirit falcon "Alshain" who knows a little more about the situation and gradually fills you with more the story as the game progresses. Alshain is also central to some of the games optional puzzles. There in only one more main character, that largely is there just be frosty towards you XD (and to add more context to the story) Admittedly the story isnt Ember Souls strongest point but its keeps things ticking. Combat is a physics driven affair (where it diverges from PoP) Anyone familiar with any melee based VR game will feel right at home here. Attacks can be blocked or parried and you have to find opening to attack your opponent. You also have a bow to your arsenal and weapons can also be thrown at the enemy. As you work your way though the game and gradually find the fabled Ember souls, more combat options become avaliable, like a "force push" The same powers are also use in the exploration side of the game. Whether to solve puzzles or to aide you in the platforming sections. For me the game really shines when it comes to the exploration and platform side of things. With a character upgrade system to sink your teeth into and many different weapons to buy and unlock; the fun doesnt stop with the campaign. Theres a sandbox mode for when you just want to jump into some combat fun. Thr "Raid" mode offers small maps where you have to navigate through to the end and compete to be on the leaderboard. The team has plans to expand on the raid modes I believe......but its a great place to hop on to grind your character and too expand on your playtime. I cant wait to see where the team goes with the raids in the future Whilst overall each component of the game may not be the best in class. Combined it is a " sum greater than parts" Whilst many will credit Batman and Metro as titles reviving the VR scene.......dont sit on Ember Souls; especially if your hankering for that Prince Of Persia game in VR.

An Arabian Knight's Dream.

Honestly, this is my biggest V.R surprise in the last year. I was interested in this game when it was announced, but Youtube reviews kind of put me off from buying. I got this game because it was on sale and as I'd just returned another turgid new release that I'd been waiting on since time immemorial, I had Quest-Cash to spend. First off it was incredibly nice to be greeted with so many settings and QOL options. Especially after the game I returned had hardly any and committed the cardinal sin of stating that it had a seated mode, when, as I am increasingly seeing it actually didn't: It had midget mode instead. AKA no height offset, no actual seated mode and the fashionable notion that it is acceptable to play as Tiny Tom Cruise in a land of giants, giant doors and switches that I can't reach. Ember Souls, is not like that. It's slick, smooth, has some remarkable ideas about the implementation of parkour, has some very endearing NPC pals, an authentically evocative Arabian Knights/prince of Persia vibe and lovely graphics. The music here is also immense, along with the voice-acting and sound design in general. The game is also, most importantly outrageously fun and fluid. The object physics are satisfying and convincing, Immersion is high and there are some beautiful swashbuckling mechanics and touches: Sliding down a wall tapestry to slow you enough to not die when you hit bottom, whilst your nails rake the fabric as you fall. The climbing is actually fun. I also noticed that pretty much every change or option or QOL feature reviewers on this page have asked for in the past, have been provided. This is quality work and the Devs are as talented as they are receptive. I can't wait to see what they do next.

Great game, really enjoying this...

Game is great and great graphics and design detail. Puzzles are good and combat feels good too, no issues. Leveling up is great and upgrading weapons by collecting coins is great. Seems like a lengthy game, which is awesome. Nice little touches, seeing through the birds eyes and various hand magic spells. Not much negativity to really say, seems polished and a great adventure so far. I would recommend this.
