Street Fighter in VR?

The immersive VR combat had me fully engaged. Each fighter's unique move set kept the battles fresh, and I loved the challenge of adapting my strategy to outsmart my opponent. That moment of triumph, feeling like a true fighter in the ring, encapsulated the essence of Final Fury and made me eager to jump back in for more action! What made the experience even more enjoyable was playing in multiplayer with friends. Competing against each other added an extra layer of excitement and camaraderie, as we competed to take each other down. Additionally, Final Fury truly exercises my mind, pushing me to make quick decisions in the heat of battle. The fast-paced nature of the game requires constant awareness of my opponent's moves while planning my own attacks. It’s not just about physical prowess; the game challenges my reflexes and strategic thinking, making each match a thrilling blend of mind and body.

An actual VR fighting game!

I really enjoyed this game! It’s as close to an actual fighter as you can get in VR. It plays like ARMS, where your punches send your hands flying at your opponent which works even better in VR. You can do grabs and blocks, and each character has their own moves for you to perform. It’s one of those games based around reversals, trying to stun and wear down your opponent to get some good hits or grabs in. The stages are pretty good looking (Especially the area where you fight the last opponent in the single player) and the game can definitely get hectic and fun with a friend. This game is one that I definitely think anyone who likes fighting games and doesn’t mind swinging their arms a lot would enjoy this (Mines got a little sore from playing too long). I hope this game continues to get updates and new characters in the future, Recommend!

One for the Fighting Game Community?

Final Fury is a pretty interesting step into the competitive VR fighting game genre To me its almost a bit of a hybrid of the punch out series crossed with something like street fighter. Every character has access to punches, a throw, a block, a dash and reversal. Whilst also having access to 2 unique specials at launch. The game is largely about the "footsies" game knowing the spacing of your attacks in between the openings. Spamming punches will just get you caught out by a defensive player who can land counter hits in between your punches (stopping you from attacking long enough to put them at an advantage) Reversals are also useful to punch people out of punch spamming when needed. Whilst throwing can counter defensive heavy players who block too much as the can only be dodged or "tech thrown" (e.g. timing your throw to clash with theirs) Specials are there to add another layer of spice that shakes up the gameplay with their own unique properties. Glitch's mines can funnel enemies approach, Tempests arctic blasts can be used for spacing/long distance attacks etc Each of the 6 playable EA characters have their own strengths and weakness to play to. Whilst it doesn't sound like many on paper, you have to remember that the games is still in EA. This game is from the same team that brought us Synth riders.....a game that has only gone from strength to strength from its early applab days to the behemoth it is today in the VR music game genre. Can the team strike it lucky with the VR 1v1 fighting game genre? Only time will tell its off to a promising start. But with the legend that is Justin Wong! on board; behind the scenes.....the game has all the potential to be very special. Its mixed recommendation at launch (Ill update the review with updates)......depending on if your the type that want single player content or one that likes to just take the fights online. It reminds me a lot of Street Fighter 5 at launch with minimal stuff for solo players to dive into (just quick matches and a series of fights in the Arcade mode, complete with final boss) But so much of the fun actually comes onto play in the online VS where real people come up with tactics that the AI can only dream off. But as the game continues to expand with the addition of more characters, with the fine tuning of mechanics and character balance. The game has so much potential into kickstarting the 1v1 fighter genre in VR. Im here to see that journey happen! More casual players may like to wait till the team adds in some more single player content (e.g. a story mode?)

Competitive VR fighting at its best

I've been a fan of 1v1 fighting games since my arcade days playing street fighter 2. Final Fury is trying to capture that magic in VR and so far it has done a great job. You can throw, block, sidestep and do different special moves. I've seen in real time how these can be mixed up to form different strategies. Characters are unique from each other and not carbon copies. As I stated before this is definitely a step in the right direction. I hope they continue to improve and balance the game as well as add new characters. It would be awesome to have a competitive VR scene and this game if off to a great start. I would recommend this to any fighting game fan.

Big step forward for VR fighting games!

As a fan of classic fighters like Street Fighter and Tekken, I was blown away by how immersive and physical the combat feels in VR. Pulling off combos with actual punches and movement is incredibly satisfying. The character designs are great, the stages look slick, and the netcode works well for multiplayer. It’s an early access, but the foundation is solid and super fun. Can’t wait to see how it evolves—highly recommend if you like action and own a VR headset.
