Fun, challenging, and a looker!

TL;DR So far the game is fun, challenging, and very polished (aside from a few minor typos I noticed), and already worth it IMO, especially at the €9/$9 sale price (40% off, normally 15). You're definitely getting good bang for your buck. I just played it for about 2 hours (until the Q3 battery died, which should tell you something). The gameplay kinda reminds me of Runner, except you're navigating up and down as well. Each level is a straight 'road', though the challenge comes from navigating through the very dense and unpredictable traffic, while often having to fight multiple different types of enemies. I played on the second-easiest difficulty and still had to restart a few levels at this early stage. You can steer the bike either with motion controls, or with the thumbstick. There's a healthy variety of weapons, though I've only unlocked 5 of them so far (I've seen a good few more in the trailers). Each weapon has a different look as well. You can also wield two of the same, or two different weapons simultaneously. Each level is short, about 2-3 minutes, so perfect for bite-sized gaming sessions. It has a gorgeous, clean cel-shaded art style. I got to level 25, and encountered maybe 6 different types of enemies (including a boss), all with different looks and attack styles. There seems to be a good variety of music, though I haven't paid too much attention to it yet. I don't know how long the campaign is, but going by my progress, I'm guessing 5+ hours. There's also an endless mode that I've yet to try. My one gripe is that I would've liked to see the path be more than a straight line, though maybe that'd make things too difficult. Maybe in the endless mode with no enemies. Or maybe things change in the later levels? Regardless, the game is a joy to play and stands out from the crowd.

The Most fun I've had in a VR Game

I fell in love with this game since I watched the very first video. It kind of felt like I was going to be transported into Futurama and I was not wrong at all! With amazing art style, a lot of action and lots of challenges, I can't stop playing this game and if you like to have a feel of riding a retro-futuristic motorcycle while fighting against traffic and robots, you must give this a try!

Great Look & Fun, but Too Challenging..

I love the look of the game, the feel of it, and it's fun up until the first boss. I've been playing on the easiest difficulty since I don't have the vision needed to keep up with traffic, the drones that fly in shooting all around you, and everything on the radar which looking at means I'm taking my one eye off of everything else and generally taking damage on a toughdr level like the impossible FIRST boss... So now the game is useless to me as I can't upgrade to soften the difficulty nor can make it any "easier" thsn it already is.. I'm hitting the unpassable difficulty wall on Easy and STILL have 40-50 more (even tougher I'm sure) levels to go if I wss to ever get lucky (luck is all it would be...) and beat this bose... So don't buy the game if you are not up for crazy difficult games or just can't handle them, as otherwise this one will lose it's charm for you very quickly.

Masterpiece of originality

Definitely a top VR fav now. Im a fan of multitasking shooters Here you multitask driving a flying motorcycle thru traffic with roughly a dozen types of guns and over 40 levels. Tons of replay ability. Especially with endless mode! It gets chaotic and super fast and tons of enemies on the screen. Challenging but not impossible to master :) The graphics look great for the comic style. Great controls, you drive up and down and left and right to dodge, and bike can be upgraded with speed and handling. Lastly epic bosses Awesome job devs

Needs major fixes

Retronika is a very satisfying game to play. Cel-shaded graphics are simple but nice to look at, and all the moving objects around you create strong immersion. The gameplay is smooth and I love the upgrade system. However, not being able to utilize vertical movement while holding the gun might be a game-breaker for me. I'm not sure if this was a conscious choice by the devs, but it doesn't really add any value to the game, other than throwing in unrealistic difficulty. Couldn't difficulty be increased in another way that doesn't hinder gameplay? Also, how in the world do I activate the shields that I purchased? I can see it in the middle of my bike's handlebar, but none of the buttons on my controllers activate them. As is, they're useless. Please consider allowing vertical movement to be controlled with one hand on the handlebars, and not just two. And please include some information somewhere for how to use the shields!
