Disgrace to the original game

Syberia is one of top 3 games I always wanted to see in VR, but this is not really it. If it was some free fan VR remake, issues would be understandable, but you want money for this, yet it lacks testing finishing, polish, and its not even in Early Access or Beta. There is many downsides to this VR implementation, to mention just few: lack of smooth turning, step turning includes blackscreen blink even when blink time is at 0; seated mode or even standing mode is bad, since some objects have the white interaction orb above them so you can pick them from "standing" height (cogs) yet others lack the white orbs, so you have to pick them up almost from ground (the tool for factory gate) the walking and running is too slow - this is the first game where I voluntarily use teleport most of the time; with phone I naturally extended just the index finger to press the buttons, but button were not usable, and I got stuck on it for a while, only when I extended all fingers and reached to the phone, the game folded my fingers to press the buttons just with index, super unintuitive; the highlighted interactions would be cool, if all were highlighted, now it just makes the game quite confusing with interactions that are not highlighted (to switch off the highlights would be neat); the reader on documents lacks some in game way to toggle it on & off. The graphics are a big issue, heavy aliasing even on loadscreens. The blur everywhere with no option to turn it off. Compared to the 2002 original the graphics looks much worse, if there was PCVR version with decent graphics, I would be praising here that you made the Quest port run so well, but Quest version being the only VR choice, its just bad, and the hardware limitation does not excuse it, when its deliberate decision. You could have make it look good, or even include VR support in the PC Remastered version, but you rather chose to make it like this. I would say its even insult to name of Benoit Sokal.

Post Patch (1) Review

Game is miles better than launch, yet not free from issues Movement - Happy to report full smooth movement has been patched in with a speed slider for walk/run/turn. All of which are now fast. Smooth turning can cause massive FPS issues, so I would recommend turning irl as much as possible, but also not necessary. Subtitles - Now an option to completely shut of voice subtitles, as well as reading overlay text. All of which are a fantastic addition Audio - Basically sounds like its all the original audio from the game. Absolutely zero spatial audio and feels very mono. It's not great, but passable. Spatial audio is very much needed Graphics - Mixed bag. Some things look great while some assets are low poly and/or 2d. Overall, its pretty good for what this game is/was. It's mobile hardware after all. Performance - Still has some issues. While Im not too far into the game, since I refused to play until it was patched, a lot of my issues stemmed from smooth turning. There still are a lot of stuttering here and there, but they have improved a lot. Still a mixed bag but def playable Overall - The low reviews this game has were 100% warranted. I wanted to quickly make this review for anyone currently interested in where its at. Based on my first impressions, I would give this a 4/5. If something happens the further I get, I will update the review. They have fixed a large majority of the issues here. It still needs further improvements, but if you're a fan of the original titles back in the day like me, I think you'll be happy. I suggest using QGO and turning I'll to help the performance even more

Script heavy game but gameplay is odd

It’s interesting but a bit strange that you have to click a to initial talk with a NPC, and then also have to choose a subject from a notepad to discuss about. Arguably unique way of interacting but just not my cup of tea. Also, how is a game in 2025 only have “snap turn” but no “smooth turn”? The constant black when turning is really taking away from the immersion. Additionally, I can’t tell if it’s me or the game, but the pop up click A to chat with NPC window pops up randomly, even when not around an npc or while in the middle of an interaction. Causing I to restart the conversation. Furthermore, the walking movement is strange. Very slow and I “hear” 3 steps for every one step. Lastly, the graphics so far has been disappointing and not what I was expecting for the price. Hopefully just means you get a substantial amount of gameplay for the price. So far, nothing has popped out to me to say “wow” but still too early in the game. So hopefully I’m proven wrong.

Underwhelming and annoying mechanics

I was so excited for this and now I'm praying for a refund. Looks great. Beautiful environments. But... as many reviewers have said, I hate the dialog in front of me. Can't turn it off. Can't see the NPC through the text. And most of all and the primary reason I don't like this game is because she's snail paced slow. It would be 50 hrs long if I didn't attempt to run. I prefer to move quickly as most do. But then my thumb starts hurting to the point I cannot play anymore. We need autorun!!! And don't get me started on the snap turn vignette, or blink or whatever it is. It's awful. If the devs improve these things, I'll change my review. If I am permitted a refund, and the devs fix it, I will repurchase. For now, it's a definite no for me which is disappointing because I was excited to see this game.

Great game. Updated

OK I've finished the game and recommend it highly. Very entertaining and keeps you interested. There is still some jankiness in the game, and required a couple of restarts. There are some issues the developers definitely need to fix, and I'm sure they will patch them, but any fan of puzzle style games in interesting settings will love it.
