Shows promise
I really want to like this. The general concept, lighting and music are fantastic. However, until the hand tracking and hit register are completely overhauled, it's virtually unplayable. Controlling manipulatives (the sphere level comes to mind) is wildly inconsistent. My hands are there but they don't grip onto the sphere with any consistency. When they do successfully grip the sphere, it spins slowly and with limited range of motion. The level in which your index finger spawns a "sword" seems cool, but then I slash directly through the little spheres and star polyhedrons, and nothing happens. The level in which you shoot little lasers by pushing your hand forward seems fun until you realize that the angle and accuracy is way off. Also, for some reason, the ability to shoot disappears about 30 seconds into the level and you're stuck with long beams of light coming from your fingers that don't seem to do anything. The words that pop up on screen ("Paralyzed", "recovered") are distracting and have to go. The facades with the oversized pixels that appear and disappear intermittently dont add to the experience, either. Selecting a level is difficult. The hand tracking is so bad that there's no way to actually quit the app. I had to start a different app after picking up the controllers to exit Thetascape as there is no exit option, even when pressing the menu button on a controller. Devs, please start over with controllers and work up to hand tracking from there. There's lots to like about Thetascape, but it needs a lot of work in its current state.
