Great game, but needs gamepad support.
This is the third time I've purchased Thumper - I also have the PS4/PSVR and Nintendo Switch versions - and I'm happy to say that the game has made its way to Oculus Go relatively intact. I add such a caveat for two reasons. First, there is a clear visual downgrade. Jaggies are apparent on much of the environment (to be fair, the same applies to the PS4 version, in VR mode) and the graphics also appear to be somewhat less detailed. It's nothing too severe though, and the game still offers the same mix of intense 'rhythm violence' and Lovecraft-inspired tentacle horror as the console versions. The other issue is the Oculus controller, which really isn't up to the job of the kind of split-second accuracy that this game demands, especially as the difficulty spikes, in later levels. Thumper really requires tactile button-based controls, and the Oculus touch pad is a poor substitute for analog sticks. Hopefully, Drool can remedy this with a patch for gamepad support in the near future. The gameplay, however, is as perfect as it ever was. This is one of the best rhythm games of recent years, and there is nothing else like it on Oculus Go. Well worth the money, if an addictive, blisteringly fast, hard as nails rhythm game with a pumping soundtrack sounds like your kind of thing. I've little doubt that Thumper will be ported to my toaster next. And I'll buy it again there, too.
