Spaceframe v2026.01 - AI fix, GPT 5.4

March 7, 2026

Hi there Spaceframers! We just pushed out an app update with a critical fix to our in-app AI functionality. We're also upgrading all Pro users to the powerful new GPT 5.4, as well as Free and Personal users to GPT 5.3-mini. Happy spatializing!

Softspace is now Spaceframe!

December 12, 2024

Since Softspace launched over a year ago, we've learned so much from the many thousands of people who have used the app. For the past few months, our team has been hard at work incorporating the most important of those lessons into the product. Today, we're releasing Spaceframe: a radical redesign…

A great start at something incredible!

Where can I post feature requests? OK, I guess I'll do it right here, since there doesn't seem to be a channel for it (even on their Discord): * This really needs to be multiplayer, where people could collaborate. * We need the option to use our regular controllers for times we don't want to fool around with the hand tracking. It's nice but the controllers are easier in a lot of cases. * I'd like to voice type, not have to use my keyboard. Would have broader appeal too, not everyone has a compatible bluetooth kb. * I'd like to be able to easily reach ChatGPT, Claude 2 AI, Bard and Bing. In fact, as more come online, it would be even better to have an option of adding them to a library of resources. * Can we add Youtube videos easily? I just bought this last night, so I've got more to learn about how to use it. But these are good starting points from my first impressions.

Updated review

I had to update my review: any service that arbitrarily limits how i spend my compute power is not worth paying for, ever. Id sooner uninstall your app and refuse to use it than pay you for my own hardware. Im not using your cloud storage or compute, no one cares about your useless ai integrations, the few features you provide which actually enhance the stock os should be entirely free. I will never install this app again. Had you only charged for cloud compute and the consideration wouldve been far different: there is absolutely no excuse beyond basic petty greed to limit the number of windows i can open: ESPECIALLY when the app bugs out and thinks im at the max with zero windows and notes open.

Overall idea is great, but…

Do this one simple modification and I (as a programmer) am all yours. 1) Add mouse support along with keyboard on the active window we interact with. It will allow so much possibilities, we won’t even need to connect our pc/mac with headset for development anymore as you already have browser implemented in your app which allows us to access code editor online. It will be amazing coding in the softspace style!

Really cool idea about 2 years too early

For the most part this app is impressive. It allows for you to manipulate items and basic workflows in an AR space in a way that is reminiscent of a certain fruit themed company's upcoming new headset. *Ahem* However the problem here is that the hardware isn't designed for it and the app itself doesn't do much other than having essentially notepads floating next to your head. The basic idea shows a lot of potential but the mechanics of how it will work and what it can actually do are not polished enough to make it a meaningful addition to my workflow. A few more noted below: 1) A keyboard is "required for most things" according to the app. Which in my opinion defeats the point of an Augmented reality work station since the only time i'll probably use this is if I'm already working on a computer and want to use this as an extension of my work environment. So you have to have two keyboards? Quest headsets already have voice search functionality so why can't you just select the box and automatically use voice search to dictate stuff? 2) It is advertised as compatible with the Quest 2 and it technically is... but the Quest 2 hardware is not designed for this type of work. Both the AR functionality and the hand tracking while *technically possible* are both so rudimentary that they're not useful for much. For example you can't read or even see a computer screen while in AR mode so again it doesn't function well as an extension of your work environment. 3) 90% of the features require a Softspace account to be able to do anything. Why? If it is a simple workstation app that is free all I can think of is that they're making money off of tracking and selling your data while using it. Which isn't something new, especially for FB. But if I'm going to be using this for sensative work documents there is no way I want a 3rd party app seeing and tracking everything I do. 4) There is no additional "app" functionality like using YouTube or even basic stuff like a calculator, a calendar, a clock, or music. It can't do anything that I would use an AR workstation for other than a simple notepad (which requires a separate notepad). A browser is baked in but you can only open one tab at a time and again if I have to use a browser for everything I might as well just stay on my normal laptop.

Brilliant Concept, But Poorly Supported

The idea behind this app is absolutely brilliant—a 3D mind-mapping experience in VR that has the potential to redefine how we organize and explore complex thoughts. The foundation is there, and with the right development support, it could easily justify a $15/month subscription. Unfortunately, the app currently feels half-baked. The interface is only partially functional, and critical features seem broken or unfinished. Even more concerning, the developer appears unresponsive, with no meaningful updates or engagement to address the growing list of issues. This is especially problematic for a subscription-based product, where responsiveness and consistent improvement are expected. I truly wish I could use and recommend this app, but in its current form, it’s not worth even the lower-tier subscription or one-time license. It needs serious development attention and, frankly, encryption and privacy features before it can gain meaningful adoption. This could be a phenomenal tool—but only if the developer decides to invest in its future.
