Really good value

Oftentimes, Oculus will post several titles in the Sale bin that we see over and over, and we wonder if there is a reason for it. Surely, they can’t all be trash and some have to be worth picking up, right? Well, The Biumbis for sure is one that is definitely recommended at the sale price. Ok, so it skews more towards younger players, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable, especially as a nice light-hearted time filler at a bargain price. The art style is endearingly cartoonish and unique, and the graphics are rendered well. The control mechanics are surprisingly done very well. While head-gazing controls your Biumbis’ movements for dodging obstacles and projectiles, the trigger controls your rapid fire of what looks like bubbles to dispatch your enemies. This combination feels very intuitive and satisfying, a rare feat for a game always on sale. Not only that, but there was also no lag or stuttering at all, even when the game throws numerous enemies, projectiles, and moving obstacles at you at the same time (just some minor choppy sound in the later levels-barely noticeable). For the frame rate to be so smooth just demonstrates that other developers are merely slacking when their own similar games are almost unplayable. The music is what you would expect from a game like this: childlike one moment, mildly suspenseful the next. Each level tracks the number of enemies you eliminate, calculating your score for that level. There is a fair amount of worlds and levels here, as well as a minor backstory, with a final boss at the end. Despite what a previous reviewer has stated, this boss is not unbeatable. You just have to figure out where on his body you have to aim. You can’t just blindly shoot at him anywhere. But once you figure that out, he’s pretty easy to take down. In all, it is definitely recommended at the sale price, the standout elements being the graphics and the controls/gameplay. It holds very good value, and you could do far worse in that sale bin.

Not too bad.

It’s not too bad of a game for a buck. It has a decent amount of levels that last about 4 minutes a piece where you fly though increasingly more difficult levels as you progress. The only thing is the end boss which there is only one of is unbeatable. I shot him for 10 minutes straight with no effect. He also never attacked me either that whole time. Still for the amount of content it’s still worth it for the price even if it’s unbeatable.

Cool concept!

Game is really engaging, love the idea. Would be cool to add support for a controller as some movements are a bit tiring to do repeatedly! Looking forward to future updates!
