Enjoyable full swing golf!

This is a very nice alternative to some other full swing golf games for the Quest; most notably the outstanding Golf+. Ultimate Swing Golf includes all the elements you would expect including single player with multiple courses (I believe four), room codes to play online with friends and the ability to get in random matches. There is a decent amount of tutorials and instructions to get you going. It feels just slightly cartoony and a bit casual but in a nice way. There are some great touches like a crowd that jumps out of the way of errant balls and cheers when you raise your club. The graphics look really good and I am enjoying the game play quite a bit. If you have played any of the excellent PSP or PS Vita golf games by Clap Hanz like I have, then you should know what to expect. The main feature missing for me so far is the ability to view a replay of a shot. Also, it would be nice to be able to teleport around the course rather then just view things from your ball location using the ground and “god mode” cameras; perhaps as a minimum adding a view from the cup back to your ball would be helpful. I do hope the developers are successful with this version and add additional content. I would be happy to buy extra courses as DLC. Whether that happens or not, this is a lot of fun and highly recommended for golf fans! Someone messaged me “REPLAYS are in the game. Press B before triggering your next shot for a replay. You can toggle views using A as well. If you keep pressing B it also changes the angle a bit each time.“ A further update after more play: The networking code needs to provide for some resilience. We have not found a way to rejoin an online room after a networking dropout. This capability is essential for online play!

Reviews are unfair

This is not a 3.9 star game. Not even close. Should be around 4.4, with the possibility of being a 5/5 game if they just make some quality of life improvements. All the problems should be able to be fixed by the time the first update rolls around. Right now, I’d rate it 4 outta 5. Being able to track your ball while in flight (similar to golf+) is a must. The devs also need to fix the wedge & putt shots. Right now it’s wayyyyy to sensitive and you end up launching your ball over the green when trying to chip 8 yds. Putting is similar. Both need to be fixed badly. They also need to add an easy “recenter” button. Right now you can use the oculus recenter button but that isn’t exact. Also need to quicken the pace between shots and holes and rounds. I’m sick of hearing the caddy chick give me words of encouragement when I simply want to start the next hole. There’s a few other small aspects which need fixing but like I said, they’re all easy fixes. Dev just needs to put the work in. I was telling my buddy it feels like this game wasn’t play tested. No quality control. I promise there is a 5 star banger of a game in there though. This could easily become the top golf game if they continually update it

Really good! Hot Shots Golf in VR!

(I bought this on the first day it came out and have been playing it for a few days) The Good... The game has great graphics; sort-of cartoony, sort-of real. The two courses I've unlocked are beautiful. The gameplay is pretty strong. The head tracking and hand tracking can be slightly touchy but nothing that can't be compensated for with practice. It has multiple different play modes and challenges. There are world leader boards for many of the different modes which gives an extra motivation to playing because not only are you trying to beat your high score but other's high scores as well. The multiplayer is by far the best thing about this. I got on a game with three other people the other night and it was soooo much fun. The Bad... IMO, the chipping and putting needs to be slightly tweaked as swinging the putter two inches can send the ball flying 16ft! The Ugly... The caddies. There needs to be an option to disable them. They are always talking and repetitive in what they say. You can turn down their volume (effectively muting them) but they are still standing their miming what they would have been saying. They don't really add anything to the game. Having said all that, I still highly recommend the game! [Ref links in my bio, also follow me while you are there!]

This is excellent. A triple-A golf game.

Finally, a FUN and COLOURFUL golf game for the Meta Quest that doesn't take itself too seriously and offers nigh-on endless replayability. The game is basically "Everybody's golf VR 2" and adds in multiplayer (4 players at once), many single player challenges and some free play and MR modes. I would say the game is a bit more challenging than the previous VR game in the series, as you'll have to play quite well to beat some of the computer opponents. They're also a slight disappointment as, so far, I've not been able to play a full round against any of them. It'd be good to just be able to pick a course, pick the holes and play rather than having to get to a particular part of the single player mission structure before you're allowed to face an AI opponent (and, even then, it's only been over 3 holes so far). I'm sure this might well open up, as I've yet to complete all the single player content, BUT it'd be nice to just be able to set up a VS game with AI instead of having to rely on human opponents if you want to do 9/18 holes. Also, I am disabled and it'd be good if the 2nd controller could be used for turning, as being able to turn my head 180 without trying to turn myself into an owl would be great. One final strange thing is that your avatar has no legs, HOWEVER I did see a YouTube review of the game where the player DID have legs, both ingame and when shown on the little plinth inside the reception area. I don't understand how they did this, as I see no option to enable them which is really weird. Anyway, if you're looking for a fun and addictive golfing experience that has 5 courses (3 of which you must unlock through playing the game) and a plethora of options and unlockables then this will fit the bill admirably. It's a great looking game, very SEGA in style, as if Golf and Outrun had a baby, and it's a really nice environment to be in. The chirpy caddies and AI opponents also make the world feel fun and friendly.

Great Fun

I am so glad I came across this golf game from the best developers of fun golf games. I have been a big fan of clap hanz golf games ever since the first one I owned on the PSP. They capture the fun aspect of the game without taking it serious but the game plays so well that you take it serious. They have done a superb job on the VR golf and it looks great and plays so well. I really hope they release more courses on DLC or even release another full game, I will 100% purchase them.
