Looks just like what was promised

The trailers had my hopes up for this kayaking game and I’ve been waiting a couple months for it to come out to try it. It’s beautiful, and I’m glad they made it, it’s worth the 20 dollars if you want a beautiful kayaking game. The way the water flows was really cool cause you could see whirlpools and Eddie’s exactly where you’d think they’d be, very nice water mechanics for making it flow. I would like a couple lake maps where you can explore a bigger body of water as the rivers are pretty linear but when you go through the jungle map and see the ruins and stuff it’s pretty cool. Definitely needs more maps which I’m sure they’ll add but its a pretty game. Also the kayak steering and acceleration could be touched up, I can turn easy but it’s hard to get speed to corner rocks in time

Really immersive except for…

Please, developers, make one small change in this game! Please, please, please make it possible to prevent the big written notification that one can escape from a tricky spot by pressing the left trigger from popping up constantly! One already knows about that possibility after the first few times it shows. And it is much more fun and realistic to use the paddle to get out of those spots anyway. After all, pressing the left trigger just puts you back to where you may well get stuck all over again, whereas fighting out of the trap with the paddle gets you past it. AT LEAST PUT IN AN OPTION TO STOP THAT NOTIFICATION SHOWING AFTER THE FIRST FEW TIMES. It really interferes horribly with the otherwise great immersion of the game! A beautiful river but with that big lettering repeatedly hovering over it—not good!

Could be brilliant… but, WHY?!?!

This game could be brilliant, but it does some massively annoying things. Stop that god awful pop up that tells me how to reset my kayak with the long press left trigger if I get stuck. I will NEVER use the reset, I like getting myself free with my paddle, it’s much more immersive - well, it would be if my screen wasn’t covered in an ugly “tip” that I can’t turn off! Please give us the option to remove this, it’s so ugly and so unnecessary. Maybe just tell us a couple of times, during the tutorial. Not constantly and forever!! When a menu pops up (usually because I ran out of time on the time trial) I want to hit the restart button and go again… But, sometimes the restart (and all buttons) are inside a rock. You can still see them, but you can see your “cursor” which makes it shockingly hard to hit the buttons. These things aside the game is truly lovely. I’d like to see more levels and some refinements. Sometimes the water splashes look absolutely awful, far too 2D and low definition. And at times the water has extreme angles and straight edges that are begging for a little more curve. The handling is ok-ish. It’s certainly not a patch on Kayak VR Mirage on Steam. But I was really pleased to find a decent looking Kayak experience that works on the Q3 without having to go through the pain of getting my headset and gaming laptop to play nicely together. Overall this game is a LOT of fun, and also extremely frustrating (not because it’s hard, but because of the stupid decisions to spam me with the hideous reset tip!!) and because the handling isn’t great, so you will miss a lot of the crates that you would have definitely not missed if you were in a real kayak!! I was pleased that I could remove the timer in free ride mode. But I want to remove ALL of the onscreen stuff, in every mode! Just me, a kayak, the water, and beautiful scenery please… oh, I almost forgot, I love the fish. If you don’t have a gaming PC this is a decent kayaking experience. If you do have a gaming pc then Kayak VR Mirage is a LOT better… but where this beats Mirage hands down is the rapid flow of the water. It’s much better going down rapids than paddling along a level river. With some really quick basic tweaks (remove that reset tip!!!) it will instantly be a LOT more immersive and a much more pleasurable experience. And with some hard work on the physics it could be truly brilliant. Definitely worth the low price tag, even with the current frustrations.

Mid

This game is short on content. There should be 3-4 courses per environment and some ability to customize your equipment. Fun-wise, this game is kind of mid. I’m not convinced the physics are accurate. There’s a hole in the jungle course, pretty early on, on the right.

Remove obstacles

Great game but obstacles kill it from being a fun relaxing experience . There should be an option to remove any obstacles and have a relaxing experience going down the river . And not get hit while trying to avoid unnecessary rocks
