Terrible

Really hate this one. I feel like I am being force fed mixes reality by this game, and Meta in general. I can't find a setting to turn down the music. Basically I would like the opposite of this, a visual environment (why I got a VR headset) without the music so I can play my own music in the room. The fighting is not well executed, matches are short, and I feel like its just blocking a few punches until the magic knockout target comes up. I can't think of any reason I would open this X-Fighter app over any of the other fighters I've been using for years. This one is not for me.

Shallow and boring

For a game that purports to be a boxing simulator, it does a really poor job. Every opponent fights with the same simple strategy, which is to punch every few seconds. They don't defend themselves as well, they don't move around, and blocking their punches seems to work or not work randomly. Yes you can work up a sweat but there's not much else to enjoy here. The novelty of having a giant robot in your house wears off quickly, and there are only a few robots which are somewhat blocky and low-res texture mapped. It's not satisfying to him them. They don't get slower or wobbly as they take more hits. And when they are defeated, they simply vaporize and get replaced with another opponent. There is one non-robot, but it's a guy wearing VR so you can't look him in the eye, and the green skin is creepy. If you want a good boxing simulator, get Thrill of the Fight. If you want a good arcade boxing simulator, get Creed. At least then you will be entertained while getting a workout.

This could be great!

My thoughts on the game: I'm in aww by the graphics and the way it feels when you punch a character but the whole rhythm game mechanics takes me out of it. Honestly just get rid of the whole rhythm thing and make this into an actual fighting game like thrill of the fight, or at least make that type of gameplay available as a separate option. (Simplicity is best, that's why thrill of the fight was so successful and it built upon real boxing and that's also why thrill of the fight is also better than creed. This has the potential to be better than both of them.) This game could be really great with the AR mode and AAA graphics and animations as well as the hit physics it would an instant HIT 100%. (The AR mode is something special that's for sure.) If you wanted something more arcade like. I would imagine you could make something similar to a Street Fighter 2 type of game except in VR and it would be spectacular. So much potential for this. But currently I only give it 3 stars. Great graphics. Nice fighting physics. Not a fan of the game mechanics. Hoping for great things for the future on this one however.

Big Ugly Robots

Fighting big ugly robots in my living room is the best mixed reality so far. Yes, this is a rhythm game. Some reviewers complain about this. To me, this is the best part. And did I say it's a sweat-worthy workout?

Where is the FIGHT in X-Fighter?

Took me a bit to realize (though other reviews alluded to this) that nothing you do has any real effect on the cyborgs. It's all just a timed experience which really detracts from my motivation to punch them and takes away from my overall enjoyment. You can just stand there and get hit (invincible) and eventually they will disappear on their own. I hope the devs will one day add a "combat mode" or something along those lines as visually this game is amazing, the cyborg moves are varied and very fun to block and dodge (despite having no motivation to do so) and I love that I can add my own music. Just won't be playing very much until they've added a combat mode.
