ALLONS-Y!
Doctor Who Fans Score - 4 Stars Non Fans - 3 Stars Paying homage to the original source and performing some wish fulfillment for fans, whilst also making the game accessible for newcomers as well Edge Of Time is a good solid game. You will be in control of a new unamed Doctor companion and storywise it is very much in keeping with what you would expect from the Doctor Who universe and plays out a bit like a feature length episode using the tardis to travel across time and space for high stakes adventuring with some twists and turns along the way. Throuought the 2-3 hour story, the gameplay will primarily consist of navigating different environments armed with just the doctors trusty sonic screwdriver, if you havent seen the show think of this as a computer hacking swiss army knife, which you will use to solve different puzzles. With this being a very narrative driven experience the navigation is very much walk from point A to Point B solve puzzle and then rinse and repeat. The puzzles themselves are pretty standard VR puzzle affair with most being observation based requiring you to look and interact with the environment around you to identify a password or specific pattern required but there are also some logic puzzles that are more taxing on the old noodle. So being a Doctor Who fan, overall I really enjoyed this and felt it was a brilliant homage to the show that had great fan service, allowing me to experience the classic "its bigger on the inside" moment with the Tardis, use the sonic "Deus Ex Machina" screwdriver and to come face to face with some iconic creatures from the series as well. But taking a step back and forgetting my personal love for Doctor Who I would say this is a well produced title that offers up some fun and engaging puzzle solving set amongst some fantastical locations with an interesting, if not convoluted, story that comes together to offer up a great excuse to get you away from the real world for a few hours.
