Important Update: Transition to Immersive Events in Teams

Starting December 1, 2025, Microsoft will retire the following experiences: Microsoft Mesh apps on PC and Quest, Mesh on web, and immersive space (3D) view in Teams meetings.

Going forward, Microsoft plans to focus on the development of immersive events in Microsoft Teams, an interactive, engaging virtual event experience with customizable 3D environments.

Immersive events will be supported on Meta Quest headsets by a new Quest app called "Microsoft Teams immersive", coming soon in the second half of calendar year 2025.

Microsoft Mesh empowers your distributed workforce to connect in 3D immersive experiences, featuring seamless integration with Microsoft Teams allowing you to join Microsoft Teams meetings directly from your Quest device through the Mesh app.

Also with Mesh, you can create an event experience with no-code tools – add in an expanding library of pre-made objects like screenshares, videos, images, and text.

Connect safely and securely with Microsoft Mesh using the tools and systems you use every day, backed by enterprise-grade security and privacy provided by Microsoft 365.

Available on PC, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest Pro devices.

Unexpected startup error

Used my enterprise account to sign in and verified with the provided code. On loading, Mesh displayed an error to the effect that an unexpected error had occurred and directed to restart. Closed the app and restarted. Same thing. Restarted the app and quest multiple times including one full shutdown to no avail. Given that this sounds like a common occurrence on the most common VR platform, how is this even rolled out and there is no dev response here? I’d expect this from some small dev shop but not MS. I was curious to try this with my team but can’t recommend it at this juncture.

Just doesn't work.

After going through the silly account linking process, the app just claims there's a problem with my internet connection and refuses to work. Seeing as how I'm quite sure my internet connection is fine, this tells me their developers don't even know how to do proper error handling or write useful error messages.

Can't use it - sign in then crashes

Really wish MS would have someone engaged with community on X/Tiwtter, reddit, elsewhere... this is kind of a dead end until you get it to work and engage the consumers. I have licenses, still not letting me login. No representation from Microsoft to be found. :/

Doesn’t work

Signed in successfully, unexpected error please restart. Tried multiple times and it simply doesn’t load, I’d give it zero if I could! Shocking. Not even a sensible error message. Well done Microsoft…

Release version still crashes on startup with 'unexpected startup error' after device registration.
