All I want is my money back..

The game itself, concept is cool, functionality is halfway decent. Not the greatest thing but you know on that end I spent the $20 whatever it's entertaining WHEN it works. My problem is in a of it's mediocrity I have to shut the game down every 15-20 minutes because it freezes my screen. I know there's zero chance Meta or the developers will give me a refund you can have the game back it's not worth all that to play..but it is the last game from these developers I'll be buying, don't waste your money or your energy the games really not worth ir

Not as good as 2MD

I want to start this review on a positive note and say that I've been having a lot of fun overall with this game. It has a license to use Mahomes likeness and it really differentiates itself from its main competitor 2MD by having full games and more robust stat tracking. It also has more detailed player models with shadows and a more intuitive audible system than 2MD. So it has a few key differences that I think help it standout. Unfortunately it also has some huge steps back as well. First and most obvious by now is that you cannot move with the joystick. To avoid pressure you must always physically step away from the defender. You also then cannot scramble or run a QB draw for instance. Adding onto the issues is that you never feel totally in control of your pass even with all assists off. I'll try to lob a ball and sometimes it will throw a laser despite my arc and loft of my arm. That issue there is the Achilles heel to its primary competitor. If I could turn off the arcade aspects I think I'd like it a bit more. Furthermore over the years 2MD allowed you to take control of the receiver after the reception. If this game wanted to standout it would at least offer that as well and maybe go one beyond it and do what Sports Challenge does with you teleporting to the receiver to make the reception. It's seriously a generation behind 2MD in gameplay aspects. It has potential and I won't be refunding it because I do enjoy it. It runs well on both Quest models, you can resume your game if you have to step away, and playing full games definitely is a step in the right direction. They just need to take the shackles off the player and let us use the joystick to scramble, allow us to toggle the arcade elements, and at least allow us to take control of the receiver like 2MD and they'd have a winner. As it stands now it's $5 more than 2MD and not as good. Edit: I've found a few other issues and one I think is a bug. 1. It doesn't seem to consider forward progress. The ball is placed where the receiver is tackled and not where the contact began. I've seen several obvious first downs driven back and not considering forward progress. 2. Runs and screen plays are rarely successful. Almost always the receivers don't block on a screen and runs are typically stuffed immediately. I've tried making better pitches to ensure the back has momentum and even bellied out to simulate a handoff (still comes across as a short pitch). Due to the forward progress bug it's almost always a 5 yard loss or worse.

Awesome !

Just finished my first high school season and now just won my first game in college vs a team that looks a lot like the Trojans. This game is excellent once you get the hang of it. I have found the key to winning is ball control offense and working the clock as my defense rarely can stop the other team. I don’t think I can ever go back to Madden after playing football this way. It would be great if for the next release we could pick our team and maybe the different teams we face would have different strengths etc. ie some defenses are super hard to throw on/score on while others are easy. Also would be nice to have handoffs and a running game. Very addictive and fun!

Good but room for improvement

Overall, this game is actually really good! The player animations are solid, the throwing mechanics are responsive, gameplay is immersive, and the fact that you get to play full games and watch the kick off in addition to watching your team's defense play is actually pretty awesome. There is still some room for improvement though. First (and a big one. Hope the devs add this in a future update), unlike 2MD Football, there's no free movement. You snap and throw the ball from the same spot. If you see the defensive trying to sack you, you can't go anywhere. Second, although I like the artistic direction, I feel like they could do a little more with the stadium and audience. Third, I get that they're trying to make it more of an arcade style experience, but the sounds when completing a pass are a little too arcady.. fourth, this is more of a "hope they add this" rather than an opportunity. It'd be sweet if they added multiplayer. For example: When playing defense, you just pick the defensive formation while the other player is playing quarter back calling the offensive plays. Could be awesome. I think this game has a ton of potential. Between dialing back the arcade feel, focus on adding multiplayer, and quarterback movement, I think this could be amazing. Anyway, setting all of that aside, this game is still awesome. Definitely recommend it

Fun but needs a lot of improvement.

First of all I want to say this game is fun and enjoyable to play. This is taking football gaming to another level rather than playing the same old Madden games. With that being said this game definitely needs a lot of improvement. One example is when I slightly over throw the ball, the defender is the only one running to go get the ball while the targeted WR just stops running his route and stands there. Another one is when I throw the ball a little low the WR doesn't go low or dive to get the ball. He just stands there and does nothing. Another thing is when a defender falls straight on his face in the prone position, he's able to get right back up in a split second and make a tackle without having to post up with his hands or his knees to get up like a normal human being. His body, while in the prone position magically floats up to make a tackle. I would like to see more pass blocking from my linemen. I know we're still a bit in the beginning stages of VR games so maybe in the future or the next generation Oculus, the movements and motions of the players will seem more fluid and smooth and not so twitchy and fast.
