While most titles for the gear VR focus on immersion, this one balances that with the fun of a good old classic NES Style game. Although the first 2/3 of the levels are not really very challenging, they're still fun. Overall, this is just a fun game to play and well worth the price. I feel like it's a little under promoted given how different it is from all of the other Oculus titles, and I think it would be hard not to like it.

I kept passing this one up for other games. I then tried it and did not stop until I beat it. I have not done all the hidden doors, some of those are harder. I think level 23... the one where you basically are going straight up...woah, that was intense and I had to hold on to something while doing that level...so high up. The gameplay is just fun, swinging and flying, slapping your sticky hand to propel yourself farther. My only complaint is that the moving cloud levels are very hard to determine what is going on. I hope you guys plan on making more. Very fun game.

I have all types of Go apps: adventure games like Along Together and Virtual Virtual Reality; action games like Void Racer and Endspace. But SwingStar might be the most fun. It’s the closest to a Nintendo platformer for the Go that I’ve played. Difficulty increases gradually and stages become quite complex. On some levels, there are secret areas with hidden keys that unlock doors to bonus levels. The act of flinging yourself off blocks with your flexible arm is immediately fun. As you go, stages become more vast, allowing you to soar to incredible heights and free-fall back down. Stages that encourage extra exploration are especially fun, and most stages allow multiple options to reach your goal. At the end of the game, there’s a spectacular boss fight — one of the better experiences I’ve had in VR games. It’s a game you want to keep playing to get a better score, to get to the next level, and just because it’s fun. Sometimes, especially at high speed, your hand doesn’t grab the block even when you *know* you clicked on it, which can be frustrating. But it doesn’t happen often enough to put much of a damper on things. Overall, it’s one of the most underrated, under-appreciated games on the Go. I’m glad I found it.

A fun mechanic combined with a varied selection of levels make for an enjoyable if all too short experience. The 3D stereoscopy effect is sadly practically turned off, no doubt to preempt nausea in some players. It would be better to give the players a comfort vs. intensity option in the menus. I personally enjoy getting dizzy. Maybe in future updates?
