The best bit is the intro

Flying through the Twilight Zone intro with the iconic voice over at the very start of the game is the best bit of the experience, after that it feels like a big missed opportunity. The game spans three episodes, each with different gameplay mechanics, and it should take average players around 2hrs 30 to beat everything the game has to offer. You'll be treated to linear levels, some very simplistic visuals, environments with very little interactivity and some easy cat & mouse stealth (ala Alien Isolation). The first episode is by far the best, with a cool mechanic that uses your own voice to intimidate you (another high point of the game) but after that it sadly slips into some highly mediocre, paint by numbers VR gameplay. It's 2am, the fear has gone.

Help I'm stepping into the Twilight Zone: Twilight Zone VR has three unique episodes. Each episode is its own story in a shared universe. Each episode has a distinct style to it that sometimes feels like three different games, but in the best possible way. There’s closets to hide in, puzzles to solve, monsters to shoot, and mysteries to uncover. The place is a madhouse. Feels like being cloned: There's subtle references that enhance the experience if you're familiar with the original series, films, or modern remakes; but this game's stories are not connected to the TV/film universe so they play perfectly independently. My beacon's been moved under moon and star: Each episode can be completed in less than an hour, but I highly recommend taking your time. There's plenty of areas that aren't on the main story's path; and while the linear story isn't exactly open-world, exploring the secret rooms and reading in-universe newspapers enrich the experience. Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far? Twilight Zone is a fantastic bargain if you're a fan of puzzle/thriller/horror games! The episodic format in the shared-universe is ripe for expansion, and I hope DLC episodes are on the horizon.

I want to enjoy it, but it's frustrating

I love the twilight zone. I love all the iterations of the show and the movies. This game starts out amazingly. But then you get to the actual first story ... You have to be sneaky and sneak past a monster. But they've made it hard as balls. Every time the monster so much as glimpses you, the game LOCKS you in place (you aren't allowed to move or run away) and makes you wait for the monster to scream, run at you, kill you, and start you over. I tried maybe a dozen times just to get past the first section. I got so annoyed that I haven't touched the game again since launch day after I reached the second area. Twilight Zone should be about the story. And it really breaks any immersion or investment when the gameplay itself just punishes you and keeps you from getting to enjoy said story when you're not good at stealth.

Lazy; Complete Misunderstanding of Show

Like many, I'm a huge fan of The Twilight Zone, however this game is nothing like it. The only resemblances are the use of its name and theme in the introduction, along with using Rod Serling's opening monologue. Outside of that, this game is a really lazy set of 3 survival horror games (really bad ones). The first chapter is like a terrible browser game version of Alien Isolation but with terrible AI and annoying respawn points for the enemy. It uses a gimmick of using your own voice to taunt you but it gets old instantly. The 2nd chapter is a bad shooter where you use something like a potato gun that's extremely tedious to play and you die and start over if you miss. Didn't even bother with the other 3rd but reviews show or say it's more of the same lazy shooting and stealth mechanics. The controls and options are also terrible in this game. You walk insanely slow and can't change your walking speed in the settings. You can sprint but only for a short period of time before running out of breath. This makes this game even more tedious to get through. Also no other gameplay options so this bad gameplay can't even be made easier to get through the story. Expect slogging through miserable gameplay just to experience the story. The stories themselves are also trite and completely out of touch with the show and anything Rod Serling wrote. There's nothing "mind-bending" about any of it, it's typical tropes like alien abductions, post apocalypse, lawnmower man nonsense. The Twilight Zone is not generic horror (which is what this game relies on) and the game should've been more of an interactive episode of the show, not lazy stealth and shooting mechanics. This is an easy skip and sadly wasted opportunity for an IP that has a lot of potential for VR experiences.

Such an awesome experience

I grew up watching Twilight zone with my grandfather and have always been a huge fan of the series, I wish he was still around to try this!! This game truly taps into the Twilight Zone “experience” and I enjoyed it throughly. Each different story is unique and engaging and keeps things new and fresh while giving a nod to its roots in all the best ways. Visuals look great, audio is crisp and controls are easy to pick up as well. It’s great for new quest users and quest veterans alike! TLDR- Worth the price, worth the time, Super fun!
