WAAAY BETTER THAN I EXPECTED

🚨FULL VIDEO REVIEW BY SEARCHING ‘GAMERTAG VR’ ON YOUTUBE 💫 Right now about I’m about 9 hours in and it definitely took some time to hit its stride. The first 5 hours are all about story, tutorials and character building, but by the time that 5 hour mark hit, I was hooked. Triangle strategy is a little bit of what I expected but a lot of different stuff too. It’s obviously turn based and if you’ve played a final fantasy game you’ll immediately feel at home with how you approach the combat and team management but what I really love is the scale and size of the battles which for me is a pretty unique experience. These battles phases can last anywhere from 15-30 minutes. I wouldn’t say it’s a complicated game but there is plenty to learn and the more characters you meet and join your team, the more varying strategies become available along with more moves and The more you use a character the more they level up giving you more shiny and colourful attacks and spells and you obviously get better at dealing with everything.

Exactly what I'd hoped it would be like!

This is *exactly* what you'd hope for out of a Strategy RPG game done up in VR. It looks amazing, and plays great. The visuals (especially on a Quest 3 with "Quest Games Optimizer" running to notch up the graphics settings) are wonderful, and sitting through cutscenes with plenty of dialog is a comfortable/pleasant experience, not something you feel like you've got to "endure" to get back to the gameplay. The 'pass-thru' mode is the coolest freaking thing ever. If you're into SRPGs, and you've got a VR headset, you pretty much owe it to yourself to give this a spin, IMO.

I’ve finally found the one

I love VR, but I have a tough time committing to games. The problem is that I don’t get a lot of time to play, so when I do, I quickly lose attention when I have so many games at the push of a button. Often, I’ll end up watching a movie instead. Although I enjoy working out, I am also a lazy gamer. I’d rather sit and play than jump or move around. So I was excited about this game because it seemed like I didn’t have to do too much. I’ve only played about four hours of this so far, but it’s just about the perfect game for me. The graphics are stunning; I’ve always been partial to pixel art, but pixel art in 3D is next level. So far, there’s a lot of exposition, but that’s ok… I feel like I’m watching an episode of Game of Thrones, and as someone who enjoys watching movies and tv in my headset, I’m here for it. The story is growing on me, and I look forward to playing this more than any other game right now, including Batman. That’s not a knock on Batman, but rather a testament to what they have built here: a game that’s great in VR, but especially great for lazy gamers like myself. If you’re someone that fits this description, then I highly recommend! 11/10!!

Great Game

Great game that works better than expected in VR for half the console price. The only complaint is the cutscenes are 2d over a scroll that functions as a big screen TV. Would have been cool to have them on the existing 3d maps and be able up scroll and find Easter Eggs (something like Ramza from FFT behind a wall or in a crowd) that wouldn't be "visible" in other versions. But 5 stars for being fun, good VR gameplay, and no bugs as far as I can tell so far.

Cool Game, OK VR implementation

So regarding the game, it's great, there's many reviews out there for other platforms. Regarding this VR version, it's pretty cool but there's a few things that can be improved for a much better experience. PROS 1. It's very cool to see the whole battle and rotate it and look around. Very immersive. 2. I like how the menus follow the controllers, it's very easy to see the info you need. 3. The diorama feel is great! CONS 1. Low resolution: I'm using a Meta Quest 3 and the game seems very low res. Lots of aliasing making the sprites shimmer. The text also shimmers a lot, and makes it a bit hard to read. Anti-aliasing and higher resolution would make the game a lot better, at least on the Quest 3 which definitely has the power, as "Batman Arkham Shadow" shows. That game has very legible text. 2. Story scenes are 2D. Much of the game is story but this is shown over an image of a scroll. It is neither 3D nor VR. Very disappointing. Hopefully they can update the whole game to be VR. Hopefully these things can be improved, I bought it to support Square's VR efforts.
