Who's This For Exactly? I'll Tell You...

For gameplay check out https://YoutTube.com/vrdynamite and for the official review visit https://vrdynamite.com So let's get to the point! - This is NOT a game, it's a sports trainer. - This is NOT for gamers, it's for athletes. Clearing those two things up will help you better decide if this is worth your money and time or not. My rating is basing this as a sports training app and not a game. If you play any competitive offline sports that require a better reaction time - I'd suggest picking this up. It just might be your secret weapon to making team captain! haha For the rest of us "gamers" out there... I would pass for now! If you look at it as training, you'll get the most out of Player 22, yet if you think of it as mini-games you'll be mostly left disappointed. Was a little disappointed to see a shallower collection of training activities and already a mention of in-app purchases to unlock future ones. It was very cool to see a high-level brand such as Addidas associated with a VR game like this and tells you exactly the caliber of athlete they are looking to attract here. I think the thing that could have tipped this over the edge and even demanded a premium price this type of niche app will need to charge to succeed is live-action athletes. A Supernatural-style live-action trainer or established athlete popping up to motivate you and provide instruction... Maybe in an update or Player 23 :) I feel this app tries to be both a serious sports training tool and appeal to a casual gamer when it should pick one lane and really dedicate itself to it. Like a serious VR business meeting app trying to also give you the ability to play beer pong... It sends mixed messages to who this experience is really for.

Not a game but still fun and engaging

No, this isn't a game or even any kind of structured exercise. It's a series of drills meant to instill muscle memory for athletes that translates into real world sports. But I love using my Quest for working out and sometimes you just get tired of punching things to music. This is a nice addition to shake my routine up a bit. The basketball game seems lame in video reviews, but actually provides a surprisingly good shoulder stretch and I like to warm up with it. The Rayderz add-on and American football are great throwing activities. I'm not into the tennis (Breakout) game because I have Racket Nx, but Headers keeps me trying because I'm not that good at it (yet). I like the reaction wall because nothing else on the Quest offers this kind of mental training (except FitXR, but only with a subscription). Will you lose any weight playing this? Probably not, but it will get you off the couch and even a little activity is better than no activity. I was definitely sweating after my first time using the app, which makes me happy. So don't write this off immediately, it still has good stuff for non-athletes.

A VR Sports-Trainer Done Right!

The concept of Rezzil Player is as simple and straight forward as it can get: "Play elements of real-life-sports in VR". However, in my years of VR experience so far, i have yet to find another game that manages to translate motions like heading a ball or throwing a Football into VR as accurately and seemlessly as this one. The inevitable lack of an object's weight is being compensated by a close to perfect and predicable physics engine which elevates this game to the forefront of all Coordination Trainers and Sports Simulation Games in VR. I keep having to remind myself that I am in fact not hitting physical object but a virtual one. The wholesome and communicative team of developers have been working together with top athletes from a variety of fields, ranging from professional Soccer Players, to NFL players or even Race drivers to try and deliver the ultimate training experience in VR and it shows - I have to attribute a lot of my physical fitness, as well as recent gains in hand-eye coordination to this game! The team curates special challenges in form of the Pentathlon (a combination of all modes with a huge prize pool), famous goal recreations and several other themed challenges every month. Now that that's covered, lets have quick look at the different modes available in the game: Headers As the company "Rezzil" itself is deeply rooted in Football (or soccer for the Non-English), it makes sense that the game's signature and pretty much main gamemode revolves around heading balls around. This is where the superb physics come into clutch, as the player can choose test their skills in 4 different modes of headers - Traditional goal-shooting, passing, clearing and ball control. Every one of these modes features several dozens of levels that range from easy to INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT so every player is guaranteed to find a suitable challenge (Same applies for the other gamemodes). As is the case with any mode, there is both leaderboards for players to place themselves on in pursuit of that coveted rank #1 and modifiers that allow players to spice up their gameplay (invisible balls are brutal). Reaction Wall While the headers modes are geared more towards full-body coordination and accuracy, the Reaction Wall drill is guaranteed to bring anyone's sweats on by testing their speed, reaction time and hand-eye coordination. The principle is simple: Hit the lights in front of you as fast as possible and try to get into the zone. I personally view this drill as a concentration exercise even, as you really have to focus completely on the task at hand if you want to do well. Hoops Hoops is the rhythm game portion of the game where you lead a basketball through oncoming rings. The same concept as with any rhythm game applies here too: Looks easy and simple but turns out to become eshausting really quick. Thus, view this as the cardio portion and leg workout of the game. Field General Field general turns you into an NFL quarterback by putting an american football into your hands with the mission to throw that thing far and hard. Same as with the headers mode, you are able to work your way through an assortment of levels and difficulties where the game strikes a healthy balance of force needed to throw and "throw assist". ... Closing Words Would I say this game is for anyone? Pretty much, yes. - While I surely won't recommend Rezzil Player as an essential pick to someone that's looking for action or shooter games, I still think that everyone is able to get something out of the game, no matter if they are a full-on athlete or my grandma. Be it the gamified cardio, serious training capabilities, raw challenge or physics appreciation, Rezzil Player will be an awesome bang for your buck! I hope this little insight could help with determining if this is a buy for you:)... Hoping to catch you on the leaderboards then!;)

Read This Before Buying

🔗 link to gameplay going over all features and DLC here: https://youtu.be/aXbWxXC7oc4 WHAT YOU GET Player 22 offers three training sims and one game for your money. The training includes: >Soccer headers (scoring and control). >Reaction times where you punch lights on a wall as quick as you can. The wall can be set to a 60 degree wall, a 180 degree semi-circle, or full 360 degrees, and... >Hoops where you hold a basketball and pass it through rings that fly toward you to the rhythm of a song. The Hoops game is designed to improve hand-eye coordination. There is also a game that comes with Player 22 called Blockz. It’s essentially like the game breakout but using a tennis racket to hit a ball toward the blocks to break them. In addition to that, there is one more game available now and two more header training exercises (clearing and passing) but these are paid DLC that cost $4.99 IS THIS FOR YOU? Player 22 consists of athlete designed training exercises. It's NOT so much of a game as an aid for athlete's to hone their skills. All of the training drills work well and feel like they are doing what they are designed to do. I feel that with practice I can increase my reaction times, hand-eye coordination and header skills BUT... Because the soccer training is a big part of this game, then whether it is worth it right now will probably depend on if you want to hone your soccer skills, specifically your headers. There is a free NFL training drill expansion coming post launch and a NFL training pack coming too which will cost $4.99. This will expand the list of sports, but for now, Player 22 focuses heavily on Soccer. 🥽 Overall, if you’re into soccer OR want to improve specific skills like your reaction time, Player 22 is one to check out. If you’re after a more casual aerobic fitness experience then Player 22 does offer something in that regard but you may find more suitable alternatives in the store.

Keep up the Updates! Great potential!

"Player 22 by Rezzil" is a collection of sports games that is a great way to integrate into your VR workout for the week, but also aside from activity, really helps with eye/hand coordination and improve reaction times. The training portion includes Headers (trying to use your head to hit a soccer ball to rings), Hoops Visions (which is a music rhythm game) in which you hold a basketball and guide it through rings, Reaction Wall (punch areas, improve your reaction time), Blokz which is a racket game and there is the newest update, Field General which is QB American foobtall training in which you throw footballs to a ring but farther rings, throw that perfect spiral. There are DLC such as the Rayzerz Game (catch balls and throw back the balls towards approaching robots) which is great, an expansion pack for Headerz and there are cosmetic DLC's (ie. Adidas Brand pack, Rezzil pack). As the developers continually update "Player 22", we are starting to see cool things and I look forward to see what developers have planned in making it better. Suggestions: - MUSIC: Allow for people to use their own music (copying music to the Oculus Music folder). Other VR games do this, some sports games have a YouTube section to play their own music as well. - More mini games such as shooting a basketball towards a hoop, table tennis or racketball, hockey, baseball (pitching and hitting), golf (driving, putting), Surfing (by balancing off waves using your arms to balance), martial arts, archery, cricket, water polo, etc. Also, adding a gym. If anything, a sporting collection with more games to get a good varied workout that continues to allow for better reaction times, eye/hand coordination, using your arms. Again, I like what I'm seeing right now, but getting more sporting games makes a big difference and makes it feel complete. While I'm sure licensing music can be challenging, allowing people to utilize their own music for their workout goes a long way. Recommended!
