RPG and VR Fitness combined

It's a fun fitness game, reminds quite a bit of RingFit on Nintendo. Core gameplay loop is running on the spot to drive your character forward, then you engage in boxing combat with different enemies. Each run lasts about 20 mins and you unlock more challenging enemies to fight but your character gets upgrades and becomes more powerful (while you get fitter IRL). There is an auto run feature so you don't have to run on the spot if you have bad knees and instead could use that time to stretch, or if you really want to challenge yourself do non-stop body weight squats

I hate leaving bad reviews.

I really didn’t want to do this. Please leave a thumbs up to warn others. I have had the game since the first release date. When I started to play I got motion sickness really bad but I didn’t want to leave a bad review and potentially hurt the company so I simply reached out to the developers through Discord. They took my input and that was that. Fast forward I saw they offered resistance bands that could be used for any game so I spent $129 to get them with an advertised ship date of Feb 28th. I reach out to them in the 28th and asked if I’d get a tracking number when it was sent and they replied yes. Come the following Tuesday I sent them an email saying I hadn’t heard anything and asked if my purchase had been sent, no response. I then sent another email on Thursday asking the same thing, no response. As of now the website still has these bands for sale saying they are in stock and available for overnight shipping. I still don’t have mine a week after the advertised ship date

YES, YES, and... YES!

Shardfall Fit VR is everything I hoped for in a VR fitness game! It’s fast, fun, and had me sweating like crazy by the end of the tutorial. From running in place to punching enemies with hooks and uppercuts, it feels like a full-body workout disguised as a game. The mechanics, haptics, and challenges are spot on, and it’s super rewarding to progress. If you’re looking for a game that makes fitness exciting, this is it. Shardfall Fit VR might just be my new favorite!

Great idea but poor adaptation to VR…

The concept of the game is fantastic, but unfortunately, the VR adaptation falls short. I genuinely hope the developers address these issues because, as it stands, I cannot recommend purchasing the game. Here are the main problems: 1. Running segments: The running speed feels excessively fast, even when adjusted to the lowest setting in the options. This creates an experience more akin to a racing game with unnatural, smooth turning. The game should allow players to turn using head movements, which would feel more like jogging—enhancing immersion and comfort. The speed needs to be decreased . There is vignette in the options but it doesn’t fix these issues. 2. Combat mechanics: Combat feels like you’re punching a screen with an enemy behind it. There are frequent awkward moments where punches fail to connect, leaving you punching the air. This significantly detracts from the experience. 3. Forced camera movements: In many situations, the game moves the camera automatically, similar to a flatscreen game. This can lead to motion sickness and breaks immersion. The game has immense potential, but these issues need to be resolved to deliver an enjoyable VR experience.

It's ok, but has a lot of clunk

Positives: Looks good and runs well in the headset. The idea is an interesting one. Not-so-positives: The game does not handle real-world rotations. It doesn't allow you to simply turn in your room. The game only allows turning (during running segments) with the stick or triggers. I would much rather be able to just turn in my room and where I'm headed is where I'm looking. Also, the game force-rotates the user during and after fights, which can be nausea inducing. Punch hit detection is.... weird. You don't actually hit the character you're facing off against, you sort of punch in the air in front of it, and it gets counted... or not. Not infrequently it would just not count punches - I dunno if I was just not punching the right spot in the air (since there is no visible target to hit). Then, sometimes, it would double-count punches - I think it was happening after I threw a punch then was moving my hand back thru the invisible collider and it would trigger again. Punching something in the air in order to trigger hit reacts on the characters is fine, but don't make it an invisible target. There are a lot of points where the game just kind of stops what it's doing and starts up a new state - going from running to an encounter, going from the encounter to getting your rewards - it doesn't feel very organic or flowy. The game loop is set up less like an adventure game, and more like subway surfers with interstitials. This half focus on exercise and half focus on game doesn't really work, and kind of takes away from the fun. I think there probably is a good way to make this work, but the way it's set up right now doesn't really.
